Total Removal of Facial Sebaceous Cyst
Sebaceous cysts are common facial lesions that have a lining and are filled with various contents depending on the type of cyst. If the lining is not totally removed, the cyst will return. Squeezing, lancing and otherwise disrupting the cyst usually results in disappointing recurrence. Removing the entire lining will usually be curative so the cyst does not return. The surgeon’s knowledge of how and were to place the skin incision also has a direct bearing on the quality of the scar. Patients that heal with a visible scar can be treated with laser resurfacing.
